Park Road Petition Crossing to be Build Next Week
600 signatures later… our "Petition" Crossing is due to be built next week!
Timperley's Local Lib Dems helped Helen, one of our local residents, to organize an official petition with Trafford Council for a safety crossing on Park Road just past Heyes Lane on the straigt stretch of Park Road.
Lots of school children cross Park Road here each day and there have been several near misses.
We wanted it just on the other side, nearer St Georges, but the bend in the road makes it unsafe and the narrow pavements don't leave enough room for people to pass with the necessary Beacons and dropped kerbs etc.
The Council was going to refuse our petition because they couldn't "validate" the signatures from their IT system, so I took the fight to the Cheif Exectuive until Timperley's residents were heard.
A couple of hundred signatures would normally be heard by the Council Executive. It took 500 to get heard in the Chamber before the Full Council, and we got 600 signatures before we stopped.
Trafford only have budget for a few schemes like this each year, so Thank You to our residents for supporting us so strongly that our area got picked.
