Pickering Lodge Park on the list for funding!

The Council collects money from big developers to spend on local parks - but they must consult on how to spend it.

Thank you to everyone who helped deliver the flyers and to all those who took the time to fill out the "Consultation" and tell Trafford we want to support Timperley's local parks.

Some good news: we made the cut !

All along, I was concerned that Trafford Council would suck all the money into Longford Park - and ignore the rest of the borough. It was so frustrating to see announcement after announcement about Longford while we couldn't even get the site of the broken swing in Buckingham Way (the 'dog park') tidied up, until I made a massive fuss the other year.

I was determined to make sure Timperley's "people power" cut through this time.

Labour still found a reason to put a lot of this Green Spaces money into Longford Park - but they can't ignore the results of the Consultation.

A report due to be voted through tomorrow also highlights the strength of responses from our area:

in recognition of the nominations received across the borough, the top three most nominated places/ spaces in each locality have been identified to receive some funding.

There are no detailed timeframes yet - but Pickering Lodge is confirmed in the report (4.10b):

South Locality – Stamford Park, Pirate Park/ Bankhill Park and Pickering Lodge

 Thank you

I'll be keeping an eye out for proper plans - but we are on the list thanks to everyone who took part.

Councillor Will Frass
