The Trafford Liberal Democrats council group has grown for a second year running to reach six members.

Alongside the re-election of all five sitting Lib Dem councillors, the election of Simon Lepori brings the group's size to a 36-year high.

This is the first time that the Liberal Democrats have held all six seats in two Timperley wards concurrently. The renamed Timperley North and Timperley Central wards replaced the former Timperley and Village wards after boundary changes.

These changes also created the new ward of Hale Barns and Timperley South. Trafford Lib Dems recorded our best ever result for the Hale Barns area, coming within 417 votes of winning a seat off the Conservatives. The Lib Dems are the clear challengers to the Tories in Hale Barns, with Labour and the Green Party placing a distant 3rd and 4th.
